The Department offers MPhil/PhD places within all of its research groups. Or you can join a one-year MSc research programme, focussed on an individual research project. This is the MSc in Computer Science by Research, with strands in Machine Learning, Constraints, Discrete Optimisation (subject to validation), Languages and Architectures, and Bioinformatics.
Research students in the Department enjoy a very lively research culture and are fully involved in the latest research successes of the Department's research groups. Many of them are presenting papers at international conferences this year, with financial support from the Department.
The Department's Postgraduate Research Colloquium is a popular annual event. It's our shop window for current research, when all our research students give presentations on their work. This year's event was held on 3 June 2009. The talks given this year and in recent years are available.
Also this year the Department has hosted the 20th POSTGRADUATE COMBINATORIAL CONFERENCE, 22-24 June 2009, organised by our PhD students working in this field.
Taught MSc programmes include the very popular MSc in Business Information Systems. The Computer Science part of this programme includes a new specialist research project option.
Another computer-related MSc course is the MSc in Information Security, offered by the Information Security Group: visit the ISG Web Page for details of the work of this group.
